Today Vogue Hommes launched in Japan and I want to get my hands on a copy of the magazine so badly. Giancinephile posted about his hugely impressive magazine hoard (I even think it surpasses Susie's) and I'm sure he, like me, wants to add this new title to his collection! Editor-in-chief Kazuhiro Saito and fashion director Nicola Formichetti rounded up some of international fashion's biggest names for the occasion, from Hedi Slimane and Kim Jones (who styled a Dunhill story to mark his appointment as the brand's creative director). Before I get my hands on the magazine I will keep pouring over the images Nicola has kindly put up on his blog.

Doesn't appear to be a lot of Japanese people in Vogue Homme considering..
I would love to see this one. Any chance your newsagent's will have it? Is it really difficult to get copies of Japanese mags?
The Japanese magazine market is impressively vast. A fair few titles are availabkle in various outlets in London, one of the best places is the basement of the Japan Centre but they aren't cheap. As soon as I get my hands on a copy I will let you know!
A lot of them are sold here, including the vastly superior Japanese GQ and Boon. But not being able to read it really puts a damper on the whole thing. A quick fix - translate your damn magazines, Vogue/GQ.
I actually think the better fix would be for the English print versions to learn from their counterparts. We always get the crap, it's time for that to stop!
Still, I don't mind what language the print is in, aslong as I can marvel at the editorials (which seem to be more creatvie in non-English magazines).
i was scrolling down your page nad shouted 'holy shit' when i saw this
I'm glad we can cause you some surprise but surely all of the posts have that effect? ;)
nicola did a great job. and like i saidbefore i am a fan of slimane.
i dint see the entire issue. hope that nicola will post david hughes editorial. and i love the fact that they used new models :) (example florian p.) ... you will se why:)
but it would be interesting to see more japanees models in it!
I agree that there should be a balance between the models used. There needs to be a healthy representation of the acutal market being portrayed in the magazines. From the images I've seen (and love) it does seem that Vogue Homme Japan wants to appeal to the deep lying anglo/european obsession of Japan, which is a definite and demanding market over there.
its good that there is still a breath of fresh air in the mens rags business
Nicola is my hero. He is authoring a wave as to how progressive menswear publications must be here in Asia.
There's still a lot of catching up to do. Singapore is also coming up with their own version of L'Officiel Hommes...
I hope for more men's fashion publications to come in the near future from my side of the globe!
