The doctor will see you now...

Calabrese Doctors bag in navy. Available at Number Six.

Over the last twelve months my totes and rucksacks have taken a bit of a pounding and my hands are crying out to grasp a new leather handle. With the warmer months approaching at a pace I am hoping to escape the city a little more than usual and am in need of a trusty overnight bag. Yesterday I stumbled across recently launched men's apparel store Number Six and fell for the charms of this canvas and leather trim Doctors Bag.

Now, I have to confess that I wasn't too familiar with the brand despite seeing its products featured elsewhere on the blogosphere so I practised a spot of research... Eugenio Calabrese founded the label in 1924 and his great-grandchildren continue his artisanal tradition today. Tie enthusiast Eugenio, created his own brand after deciding to fulfil a collection that would offer a large enough range to suit his mood. In the 1960s, his son Sir Francesco began distributing the ties to top tailors and boutiques before the brand went on to develop a selection of accessories and bags. Simple and in pop colours these can brighten any outfit. Here, Number Six were given the opportunity to choose their own special colourway and combination of canvas and leather and the fruits of the collaboration are just what I was looking for. Now, I just need to plan a few weekend jaunts.

That tote is pretty great. I like finding new/refreshing things on the internet especially clothes. I have a similar tote from L.L. Bean.

Calabrese used to be carried by Duffer (RIP) and have been in the Tudor building basement for ages...

Roll-up bags ring any bells?

All good stuff - jump in!

On another note, the old When We Were Casuals boys are useful though are they? It's nice to be able to see Oi Polloi's stock 'in the flesh'...

Joy: Good stuff.
Mr Brown: I've had the blinkers on with this brand but I do recall seeing the wash bags in the basement of the Tudor building. Alas the Oi Polloi chaps don't stock the Doctors bag. They do have the duffle bags in stock though I'm unsure about how comfortable those ropes would be sitting astride my shoulders. Talking of boys up in Manchester have you seen the new store yet?

This is a great example of how to carry your things with style. Good leather stuff!

I used to have a Edwardian Gladstone bag a few years back that I took with me everywhere. Unfortunately I wore it to the ground, but one day I will find a new one!
